Cancellation Policy

I respectfully ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and no-shows are billed at the full self-pay rate, as insurance does not cover missed appointments. Emergencies are always handled with understanding.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges if you are uninsured or self-pay. An estimate is provided before your first appointment and any time it is requested.

Verifying Your Benefits

Before your first appointment, my office will help confirm coverage with your insurer, including expected copays, deductibles, and any prior authorization requirements. You are encouraged to also call the member services number on the back of your card to confirm mental health benefits directly.

Tips for Verifying Mental Health Benefits

Ten focused minutes on the phone with your insurer can save weeks of confusion later. Ask in this order:

  1. Is psychiatric telehealth covered at parity with in-person care? Most Texas plans say yes, but confirm in writing.
  2. What is my copay or coinsurance for CPT codes 90792 (initial eval) and 99213–99214 with add-on 90833 (follow-up + brief therapy)?
  3. Does my deductible apply first, and how much have I already met this year?
  4. Is prior authorization or a PCP referral required? Some HMO and managed-Medicaid products need one.
  5. Are there limits on the number of psychiatric visits per year? Then write down the reference number for the call.

Out-of-Network Coverage

If your plan is not on the accepted list, many PPO plans still reimburse a portion of psychiatric visits at the out-of-network rate. On request, we provide a detailed superbill after each visit that you can submit directly to your insurer for partial reimbursement. We will let you know on our first call whether this is likely worth it for your specific plan.

Questions about cost shouldn't be a barrier to care. If finances are tight, please ask — limited reduced-fee slots may be available, and we can talk through options together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my insurance cover telehealth?

Yes — most major Texas plans now cover psychiatric telehealth at parity with in-person visits. We will verify your specific benefits before your first appointment.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

When clinically appropriate and after thorough evaluation, yes. Stimulants for ADHD and certain anti-anxiety medications can be part of treatment, with careful monitoring per Texas and DEA telehealth regulations.

How long until I can be seen?

New patient appointments are typically available within 1–2 weeks; sometimes sooner. Reach out to check current openings.

Do you provide therapy alone, without medication?

This practice focuses on psychiatric evaluation and medication management with integrated supportive therapy. For dedicated weekly psychotherapy, I am happy to provide referrals to trusted local and Texas-based therapists.

Do I need a referral?

Most plans do not require a referral, but a few HMO products do. We will check this when verifying your benefits.
